New Year's Eve Treviso

If you want to spend the New Year's Eve in a city really particular, then go to Treviso!
In the vicinity of the historic Piave river and crossed by a series of natural and artificial channels which give the city a rather suggestive aspect, the area around Treviso is a green plain and very fertile.
Treviso is a very interesting city from the cultural and economic point of view, which is based on a flourishing industry, on the agriculture, and crafts and tourism.
We start our visit of the city from the Duomo (cathedral), a very important building from the architectural and historical point of view.
Other imposing religious building is the Baptistery, in Romanesque style: part of the Baptistery is a huge and very old bell tower.
Many are the museums to visit: for example the Ethnographic Museum of the Indians of Venezuela, the Museum of Archaeology and palenteology of the South America, and the Zoological Museum, and yet the Civic Museum, situated in the Cavour suburb, the Museum of the Trevigiana House.
For a pleasant walk immersed in historical palaces and arcades you can come in Canova Street, or the famous Calmaggiore Street.
Other places of great interest are, for example, the beautiful Piazza dei Signori, a pearl in medieval style that is situated in the centre of the city; or, still, the Monte di Pietà square, with the Monte di Pietà Palace, inside which we can admire the wonderful paintings that decorate the chapel of the rectors, of the XVI century.
And finally, the two beautiful churches of San Vito square, i.e. the Santa Lucia church and the San Vito church: they are two communicating buildings, both dating back to the Middle Age.
With regards to the restaurants, there are those which propose many typically Venetian dishes or however of the North of Italy: among these we recommend the Osteria di Bana, the Trattoria all’Antico Portico, situated right in Santa Maria Maggiore square.
If you want to go for a trip slightly outside the city, then go to the Osteria Zanatta, situated in Varago di Maserada.
This is a tavern with a family management, which is precisely in the middle of the Piave valley, surrounded by a rich vegetation, and from the luxurious villas and the ancient villages.
Here you can taste the traditional dishes of the Veneto region, those that were once poor dishes of the farmers, now are slightly revisited and adapted to the modern taste.
