New Year Salzburg

Salzburg is situated in the centre-north of Austria, about 300 kilometres far from the beautiful Vienna.
The city presents a Baroque architecture, close to the style of some of the most beautiful Italian city and this is not a case that it has been recognized by the UNESCO as a "World Humanity Heritage'".
Furthermore, Salzburg is considered an important city for what concerns the music: Mozart was born here and each year the largest musical events in the world are held here, the festival concert in summer (Salzburger Festspiele).
Salzburg hosts many visitors each year, usually art and culture lovers, which are kidnapped by the welcoming and elegant climate of this splendid city.
But let's begin our visit starting from the old city, which stretches between the Salzach, the river that washes Salzburg and divides it into two parts, and the hills. The historical centre has all the wonderful Baroque style: here you can stroll surrounded by old palaces and get lost in picturesque streets, on which open squares and avenues that you will leave you breathless.
In the historical centre you can visit the Salzburg cathedral, dating back to 774, but then rebuilt in 1614, on a Solari project.
Furthermore, the lovers of classical music can visit the Mozart birthplace (Mozart Geburtshaus), who was born there the 27th January 1756: it is a nice bourgeois small palace, dating back to 1400 circa, in the heart of the historical centre of Salzburg.
Visiting the city, you will find that every corner of Salzburg offers a wonderful panorama: i twill make feel like you are in a postcard.
The landscape of the historical centre is dominated by the Hohensalzburg Fortress, one of the panoramic points from which one can observe the whole city: to get there you can take the funicular Festugsgasse, or you can opt for a walk.
