New Year's Eve Rovigo

Rovigo is a small town not very known but very characteristic, absolutely a destination to highlight, even in the cold winter period, perhaps just before the New Year.
The city is located along the Adige river, within a broad plain crossed by many artificial channels connected to the Adige river, which give to the town and to its hinterland a look quite particular.
From the XVIIIth century, the importance of the city grew in exceptional circumstances, in particular from the point of view of the trade and the business: still today Rovigo has a crucial importance for the economy of the zone, being one of the most booming business centers of the northern Italy, particularly in the industry and in the agriculture.
The city, despite its long history, has a rather modern point, as it has known rather recently an imposing development from the urbanism point of view.
However, the monuments don’t lack: we start from the beautiful cathedral, inside which are kept many paintings and sculptures.
In the immediate vicinity of the cathedral, we can relax in the green of the public garden, where there are two famous towers: Torre Donà, one of the medieval highest towers of Italy and a broken tower; both are part of a castle dating back to 920, gone now destroyed.
Other famous towers of Rovigo are the Pighin tower, once an integrated part of this ancient city walls, and the Torre dell’Orologio (clock tower), dating back to 1700.
Among the historical buildings, a particular signal goes to the palace of the Town Hall, the Rovarella Palace, the Roncale Palace of Michele Sanmicheli, and finally to the Accademia dei Concordi Palace, which we can visit the beautiful Concordi art gallery and the Seminario art gallery.
Finally, in the heart of the city, we can enjoy a coffee on the beautiful Vittorio Emanuele II square, with the typical trapezoidal shape: in the square we find the column with the Lion of San Marco, dating back to 1881.
In the vicinity of Rovigo you can spend a funny evening fun at the Baruc, where you can enjoy excellent cocktails, accompanied by good music to listen to and dance.
