New Year's Eve Rimini

For those who love dancing and go wild, which place is better than Rimini to spend the New Year?
In fact, this famous bathing location is famous and frequented because capable of offering a wide range of entertainment and nightlife.
Its fortune dates back to old times: in fact the city, in addition to have an important port, was precisely on three of the  most important communication roads of Italy, namely the Via Aemilia, the Via Flaminia and the Via Popilia.
But we shall now proceed to the recent history: an important date is that of 30th July 1843, the inauguration day of the Stabilimento Privilegiato dei Bagni (the privileged establishment of the bathrooms).
It took other 50 years to create the Kursaal and the Grand Hotel, which have given the way for all the other establishments, transforming the city of Rimini one of the major sea destination of North Italy.
Famous for its many clubs, Rimini is able to offer also many historical and artistic beauties: just walk through the streets of the historic centre, the main point of the city.
Another part, which is separated from the centre, is the marina, which boasts 15 kilometres of beach, divided into 10 villages.
But let's begin our visit from the Malatesta Temple, from the Renaissance and commissioned to the artist Leon Battista Alberti by Sigismondo Malatesta, at the time (1450), Lord of the city.
Cespite its name, the Temple, it is a restructured church.
Inside it there are two very important art works: the first version of the Crocifisso (crucifix) by Giotto, and the famous fresco that Piero della Francesca made for the Lord of Rimini, representing Sigismondo Malatesta in the presence of St. Sigismondo.
Little far away from the Temple there is the Augusto Arch, dating back to 27 B.C., once part of the walls of the city.
Still, we can admire what remains of the monumental Sigismondo castle, at the same time the palace and the fortress, today it is used to host exhibitions and events of great importance at international level.
It worths a visit the Saint Augustine church, dating back to the XIIIrd century and in Gothic-Romanesque style.
Inside, we can admire the Universal Judgement of the so-called "Maestro dell'Arengo", an art work dating back to the 14th century.
Then, you can take a coffee in Cavour square, the pulsing heart of the city where we find the Arengo Palace, the Podestà Palace, the Old Fishmonger and the Galli Theratre, plus the bizarre Pigna fountain, right in the centre of the square and just restructured.
Finally, how not remember that the city of Rimini is the homeland of the famous film director Federico Fellini, that often has chosen it  as the set of its memorable films.
