New Year's Eve Pordenone

Pordenone is a very lively and modern city, where each year are organised important cultural initiatives: some examples are the Days of the Unspoken Film Festival, in October, or the Book Show, in September.
Other period indicated for a visit, because of full of events, is the Christmas and New Year period.
Pordenone was born as river city, in the course of centuries it started to devote itself especially to the industry: for years now it is famous for the cotton and the ceramics, such as those of the famous Galvani ceramic factory.
Other important type of industry after the World War II and soon became famous throughout the world, is the Zanussi factory stoves, that by the time it has become one of the main appliances factories at European level.
Let’s start to explore the city from the St. Marco cathedral, a marvellous building in Roman- Gothic style dating back to the end of the XIVth century.
Then, we continue our visit through a historic road of the city, that i salso the main street: we are talking about Contrada Maggiore, today known as Corso Vittorio Emanuele.
Here, apart from many shops, we can admire wonderful old buildings such as the Gregoris Palace, dating back to 1600, or the Ricchieri Palace, inside which there is the Civic art gallery.
Other imponent building of the 1600 are visible along Corso Garibaldi, another historic street in Pordenone.
But, the most beautiful walk is surely that one along the Corso in the history centre, adorned by beautiful porches and elegant shops and cafès.
In narrow streets of which is full the history centre, instead, you can taste delicious meals in one of the characteristic restaurants, also here surrounded by magnificent palaces adorned with frescoes and sculptures.
Among the Museums you may not miss a visit to the Museum of Art, where there are exposed the paintings of a great Friulano painter, Giovanni Antonio de Sacchis, also known as the Pordenone.
It is important also to know that Pordenone there are some of the greatest park in Friuli, such as the river park Nocello or the St. Valentine park.
For the true nature lovers, we suggest to dedicate some relax in one of the marvellous parks along the Nocello river, not too far from the city.
Finally, we can advise some premises: among the restaurants, try the Antico Cervo restaurant, where you can try a delicious Friulana cuisine in a very welcoming environment.
