New Year's Eve Pisa

If you want to visit an important Italian city, why not, in the proximity of Christmas and New Year, choose the wonderful Pisa?
In the surroundings of Pisa, besides the beautiful coast which is located only 10 km far, it must also be remembered Larderello, and the small city of Volterra, a great archeological importance centre, and famous for the alabaster working.
Pisa, therefore, in addition to be an important industrial centre, is also an interesting tourist destination.
What attracts many visitors, in addition to the historical and artistic beauties, there is also the mild and warm climate, typically Mediterranean.
Furthermore, how not to mention the fact that Pisa was one of the most important Italian Marine Republics.
Finally, we need to remember that right here Galileo Galilei started its scientific research, and that the city is one of the most important cultural centres in Italy, thanks also to the famous university Scuola Normale Superiore, founded in 1343.
However, as well as on tourism, the economy of Pisa is based on several glass industries, and on important metal mechanical, textiles, pharmaceutical ones, besides those of ceramics and packages.
We start our visit of the city from the cathedral, which is situated in the beautiful Duomo square, known as the Miracoli square: here you can admire some of the most beautiful monuments that the Romanesque art can boast of.
Besides the Duomo, completely homogeneous both stylistically and chromatically, we can visit the baptistery, the cemetery and the bell tower, namely the famous tower of Pisa or Leaning Tower.
In the square you can visit the Opera del Duomo Museum.
Still, to visit in Pisa there is the Ponte di Mezzo or Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in the city: from here we cross the Arno river and we arrive in the Garibaldi square, from where we walk along Borgo Stretto, one of the main streets of the historical centre.
Very beautiful is also the Cavalieri square, with many buildings by Giorgio Vasari.
In one of these buildings, the Cavalieri Palace, is now hosting the Scuola Normale Superiore. outside the school we can admire the Cosimo I statue, the Francavilla fountain and the Orologio Palace.
Then, a relaxing you can go for a relaxing walk to the botanical vegetable garden, dating back to 1595 and wanted by Ferdinando I.
Then, to visit the Nerone Thermal baths, dating back to the IInd century and the Lucca Door, 1544, you must walk along the characteristic Malfi street.
To also visit is the St. Matteo National Museum, which overlooks the Lungarno Mediceo: this Museum, from 1949 is hosted in the Benedictine convent of St. Matteo.
Still, between Garibaldi square and the Solferino bridge, we can admire the Agostani Palace and the Royal Palace.
Finally, in the Pisa surroundings we can visit the Migliarino Natural Park, along the coast and the hills of Pisa, where you can taste the Doc and Docg products.
