New Year's Eve Pescara
A city where certainly does not lack the fun, especially in the feat periods, such as the New Year, is Pescara.
This city, which takes its name from the river that washes it, the Pescara Fiume river, is avery frequented destination even during the summer, when the Adriatic coast is invaded by the tourists.
It’s not difficult to understand why, therefore, the city bases much of its economy on the tourism.
Another Pescara point of force is the fishing activity.
About this, we can say that the original port of the city, many times restructured and expanded over the centuries, dates back to the period of the Roman domination.
The town of Pescara has a very modern aspect, despite its ancient origins: in fact, it has been destroyed in large part by the bombing of the World War II.
We can start our visit of the city from the San Cetteo cathedral, in which are kept the sacred Holy’s relics: in the cathedral, built around 1930, we can admire a stunning work by Guercino.
Other religious building to visit is the Santa Maria Basilica of the Seven Pains, in a neoclassical style and of the XVIIth century.
Among the museums we cannot not to visit the Ittico Museum, where are mostly kept ancient fossils, and the Museum of the People from Abruzzo, where we can admire some objects used in the daily life of the past.
Let’s not forget to visit the Grabriele D’Annunzio birthplace (1863) and, then we finish our city tour at the port, still today the centre point of the city and a meeting place.
