New Year's Eve Nuoro

The town of Nuoro in the New Year period is filled with craft and characteristic markets, where you can find real Sardinian pearls craft.
The first settlements in this territory date back to the nearby populations.
Nuoro has always been a florid and prosperous city, with a very developed and heterogeneous economy.
Nuoro, besides being the main centre of important cultural institutions, is characterized by a beautiful natural landscape, dominated by the magnificent Ortobene Mount.
Let’s start our visit of the city from the Duomo (cathedral), dating back to the XIXth century: within this beautiful building you can admire the numerous paintings by the painters of the place.
Another very interesting church is the St. Simplicius church, builtbetween the XIth century and the XIIth century.
The building is entirely in Romanesque style, except for the wonderful Lombardo-Tuscan facade style.
Finally, a visit to the museums, first of all the civic Speleo-Archaeological Museum: here you can admire finds from the Nuoro area and the belongings to the long period of history that goes from the Neolithic period to the Middle Age.

Then very particular, is the the Delleidiano Museum, dedicated to the Nuoro writer, who won the Nobel Prize in 1926.
