New Year's Eve Lucca

Lucca holds every year an important festival about comics, just close tp the Christmas and New Year period: in this period the city fills with people from every corner of Italy and of the world, and it becomes a continuous party which takes place 24 hours along all the roads of the centre!
Other important festivals are the Summer Music Festival Lucchese, from June to September; in July, instead, the city easily organize the Lucca Summer Festival.
Furthermore, Lucca is very close to other interesting cities, all to visit: for example, is only 20 km far from Pisa, 70 km from Florence and 100 km from Viareggio.
Other reason to visit this city, is the wonderful landscape in which it is immersed: in fact Lucca is situated in a flat territory, surrounded by the Garfagnana mountains, by the Media Valle del Serchio hill, and part of its territory is also the beautiful Marina Versilia, a wonderful white and bright coast.
Also from the climate point of view Lucca is the ideal destination, thanks to its mild climate in every season of the year.
It is not a case, in fact, that the major resource of the city is precisely the tourism, drawn by artistic and cultural interest places, as well as their craft.
Let's begin our visit from the cathedral, dedicated to St. Martino: this magnificent building is in the Romanesque style outside and Gothic style inside, and it goes back to the period from the XIth to the XIIIth century.
Other religious building to visit is the St. Michele al Foro church, one of the most beautiful examples of the architecture from Lucca and done by the artist Nicola Pisano.
This wonderful church is situated in the beautiful St. Michele square, the city's heart.
In St. Frediano square, then, you can admire other two magnificent monuments: the first is the St. Frediano church, dated back to 1112 circa, while the second monument s the Roman amphithatre of the IInd century B.C..
Finally, visit the XVIIth century Mansi Palace, situated in Galli Tasi Street; inside it you can admire the wonderful National Picture Gallery.
