With its particular conformità, that is a narrow strip that develops for miles and miles along the coast, genoa is one of the main southern European harbours.
The climate of this city is marked by cold winters and sultry summers, and above all, by a steady rain which stops only during the spring season.

But let's begin our visit of the city from the heart of the historical centre, i.e. the Old Port, where modern and ancient mix harmoniously.
There are many attractions to visit in this area, first of all the famous Aquarium of Genoa: here you can see very closely seals, penguins, dolphins and sharks.
Also interesting is the Galatia Sea Museum, where we can learn the history of the great explorers of the sea, first of all Cristoforo Colombo: this is without a doubt the largest maritime museum of the Mediterranean.
Always in the surrounding area there is the City of Children, an area dedicated to the fun and learning and playing, of the children.
From this central area of the old town we can then take a walk for the countless alleys of the historical center, where you can admire very interesting glimpses.
With regards to the architecture of the city, we can say that you can’t help seeing the main Genoa squares, the many historic buildings, of immense value and beauty.
One of the most famous building is without a doubt the Ducale Palace, once upon a time the headquarter of the city government, while today it has become one of the most important exhibition venues of Genoa.
Within the most historic buildings, are today hosted considerable museums and galleries: also for this Genoa was elected in 2004, the European City of Culture.
Among these many museums, to absolutely visit are the Museum of world cultures, which is located inside the D’Albertis castle, in neo-Gothic style; the Giacomo Doria natural civic museum, within which we can admire one of richest collections in the world.
And finally, how can’t you visit all of the historic buildings that have been declared heritage of humanity, namely the new streets and the palaces of Rolli: here we can admire some of the most renowned and valuable art works in the world, such as those of Caravaggio, Rubens and Tiziano.
