New Year's Eve Cremona

In the plain between the Adda and the Po rivers, we find the beautiful city of Cremona,

An unusual destination for the winter holidays or for the New Year’s Eve.
In addition to the beautiful landscapes given by the majestic mountains that surround the city, Cremona is full of artistic and historical beauties, among which we remember the fantastic farmhouses in the Cremona plain.
We can say that the pretty good position of the city not only has encouraged the development of the industry and the agriculture, but also the development typically tourist.
It can be said that one of the happiest historical periods of the city was the Renaissance one, during which the painting school and the architectural one were born in Cremona.
But let’s start our journey among the many artistic beauties of the city: the Town Square dates back to the Medieval period and it is considered one of the best medieval architecture examples in Italy
To make it truly special, there are the many monuments that surround the square, for example the Torrazzo, the symbol of the city: to reach the top of this very high tower you must climb 487 steps, but once you arrive you can admire a truly breathtaking landscape.
In the square there is the cathedral, in Romanesque style; anoother building in the Romanesque style is the Baptistery, with the characteristic orthogonal plan.
Then, in the town square you can visit the Town Palace that, in addition of being the headquarter of the ancient Cremona government, it is also the guardian of five precious violins.
In Cremona, then, you can visit many palaces of great interest: for example, Palazzo Stanga, Palazzo Raimondi, decorated with white and pink marble, or the Palace of Cittanova, typical of the Guelfi period.
Among the churches, they deserve a visit the St. Margherita church, or the St. Agostino one; or, again, the St. Sigismondo church, in Reinassance style, commissioned by Bianca Maria Visconti, on the site where her wedding was celebrated with Francesco Sforza.
