New Year's Eve Como

Thanks to the mild and pleasant climate, each period of the year is suitable for a holiday on the Como lake, surrounded by the huge Valtellina mountains: can you think of a better panorama for your New Year?!
Even if Como is a city sufficiently small, it can offer a great landscapes variety and very different situations, passing from the high mountains on the lake, to the hill, to the industrialized Brianza area, until you arrive at the city, with its suburbs made of beautiful villas and green landsscapes.
In addition to all this, let’s not forget the importance of Como in the industrial sector, in particular the silk manufacture and processing: this in particular it is a tradition that Como has from the 1500.
Let’s start our tour of the city from the Cathedral Square, from which we can admire the cathedral built by the Comencini Masters.
Next to the cathedral we find the Broletto Palace, once upon a time the municipal headquarter.
Then, we pass to the Verdi Square, with the San Fedele basilica and Porta Torre. Still, if we want to dive into the shopping, or enjoy a coffee, we can walk along the Corso Vittorio Emanuele, until you get to the Giovio Palace, where it is situated the Civic Archaeological Museum.
Very interesting is also the characteristic Museum of the Silk.
Another important museum is the Civic art gallery: from here you can continue in Via Armando Diaz until you reach the splendid Piazza Volta.
Here, you can relax in the beautiful public gardens, green oasis that overlooks the beautiful lake of Como.
Then, if you are in Como you can’t not visit the Voltiano temple, inaugurated in 1928 to celebrate the scientist Alessandro Volta from Como.
