New Year's Eve Caserta

For a royal New Year Eve in Campania, how not to choose the wonderful city of Caserta, in the middle of the Campania plain!
The origins of the old town of Galatia are very old, and are assigned to the Samnites, by others to the Romans, to end to the Etruscans.
In any case, its architectural structure is due to the Capua, and later the Bourbons of Naples, who further enlarged the city.
The result of so many dominations is that today Caserta can base a large part of its economy on the tourism industry.
Also important is the agricultural sector, in addition to the craft sector.
Furthermore, it is here that the Second University of Naples has its headquarter. This time our visit of the city can start from the Royal Palace, one of the highest examples of the Neo-classical architecture.
It was Carlo Bourbon who wanted this wonderful Palace: the works begun in 1750, based on a project of the great architect Luigi Vanvitelli, who saw its complete work only a century later.
The Royal Palace in Caserta has about 1200 rooms, in which you can admire the astonishing decorations and frescoes, like those representing the Four Seasons.
Surprising, is also the Palatine Chapel, always within the Royal Palace, then, to e mentioned is the monumental Library wanted by Ferdinando I.
Other rooms to visit are: the Court Theatre, the Guards Hall, the Mars room, the Throne room, the Murat room, the Elliptical room, the Art Gallery Hall, the four rooms with the kings portraits and many others.
But the strong point of the Royal Palace is surely the immense park: it is more than 100 green hectares, decorated with sumptuous fountains.
The most famous are the Margherita and the Dolphins fountains, the Eolo one, in the suggestive Winds Vave, the Cerere and the Venus and Adonis fountains.
To also visit is Caserta Vecchia (Old), with its splendid Romanesque cathedral, next to the squared bell tower in the Bishop square.
