If, for your New Year’s Eve you are looking for an unusual destination but interesting, why not to try one of the largest city of the Lombardia region such as Brescia?
Located in the extreme east of Lombardia, Brescia is in a very beautiful area, made of mountains and plains.
Precisely because of its geographical feature, the winters are cold and always full of snow...instead, the summer is rather torrid.
Beside the climate, Brescia is a really complete city: in fact, in addition to its historical and artistic interest, the city is among one of the most important in Italy from the industry and trade point of view.
Also the tourism industry is cured: in Brescia you can visit museums, see exhibitions and seasonal shows, but also the restaurant and the shopping are perfect for the tourists! I
Thanks to its attention towards its cultural resources and to the numerous exhibitions and events organized by the city, Brescia can be considered as a centre of great artistic and cultural importance not only in Italy, but throughout Europe.
But let’s start our tour of the city, starting from the historical centre: first of all you can visit the beautiful Piazza della Loggia, in Renaissance style.
Here we find Palazzo Loggia and the Monti di Pietà, in addition to the famous clock tower: two mechanical figures, that is "macc de le ure", mark the time each hour. Then we shall proceed to Piazza della Vittoria, which belongs to the fascist period: impossible not to notice the huge Palazzo delle Poste and the Torrione.
Passing through Piazza Paolo VI, we can visit the old cathedral, of the 12th century: because of its circular form, the cathedral is known as the Rotonda (round).
Among the museums, we can’t miss a visit to the Tosio Martinengo art gallery: here there are exposed the collections of the main protagonists of the Renaissance period of Brescia.
Another important museum is the Museum of the Weapons, with arms and armour dating back to the ‘400, and yet the Risorgimento Museum both of these museums are within the castle, situated on the hill, is the largeest fortresses in Italy.
Among the churches, however, you must visit the St. Francis of Assisi church: this is a building typically Franciscan, with a style of late Romanesque, very simple and angular.
Finally, if you want to go back in the ancient Roman Empire, you can visit the Forum square with the Capitoline temple built by the Vespasian Emperor.
We remind you that in the immediate vicinity of Brescia there is the Adamello Park that extends for approximately 48,200 hectares and it is really surprising!
